Burlington Balfolk Party!

Join us for a Burlington Balfolk party! This participatory dance form is fun and easy to learn, especially with friendly instruction and hypnotic live music. All dances are taught by local dance leader Mary Wesley; no partner or prior experience needed.

“Balfolk” refers to the recent revival of popular social dances from Western Europe, with an emphasis on traditional “folk” dances from France. Bourrées, an dros, gavottes, mazurkas, waltzes, scottishes — a mix of partner dances, group dances, entrancing chain dances.

Hailing from Vermont and Québec, our band, Triton, offers music rooted in the traditional dance repertoire of Northwestern Europe, moving body and soul alike.
